Allah is the Greatest (×3). Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could never have subdued it ourselves. And indeed, to our Lord we shall return. O Allah! We ask You on this journey for righteousness, piety and deeds that please You. O Allah! Make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance. O Allah! You are the companion of the journey and the guardian of the family. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, from returning in sorrow, and from any misfortune affecting property or family.

On the return: «Âyibûn, tâibûn, 'âbidûn, li-Rabbinâ hâmidûn.»

What to know before you leave

Content added by SafaWell to support you

The Umrah rites in 4 steps
1. Ihram — state of consecration from the Miqat: intention + Talbiya. 2. Tawaf — 7 circuits around the Ka'bah. 3. Prayer — 2 units behind the Maqam Ibrahim. 4. Sa'i then Halq/Taqsir — 7 trips between Safa and Marwa, then cut the hair. Umrah complete.
The Miqat
The Miqat is the boundary that cannot be crossed without being in a state of Ihram. On a flight to Jeddah, one enters Ihram at the airport or on the plane; the captain generally announces the approach to the Miqat zone.
Women without a mahram
Saudi Arabia allows women over 45 to travel within an organised group without a male guardian. Rules for younger women vary — check current Saudi regulations before booking.
Tawaf crowds
Weekends and school holidays are the busiest. Early morning (after Fajr) and late at night are calmer and more peaceful.
The state of Ihram — what to avoid
No perfume, no cutting hair or nails. No arguing or inappropriate speech. Men: no sewn garments and no covering the head. If in doubt, consult a scholar or your guide.
Practical tips
Hydrate regularly (ZamZam water is everywhere). Wear comfortable shoes that are easy to find at mosque entrances. Keep your passport, visa and money in a secure pouch.

This guide is provided for spiritual and practical support. For any religious questions, refer to a scholar or your guide.
