Ihram & intention

الإحرام والنية

Before the mîqât, enter the state of consecration (ihram). Men wear two pieces of unstitched white cloth; women keep their ordinary, modest clothing. Be in a state of purity, then form the heartfelt intention to perform the Omra and pronounce the formula for entering ihram.

✦From ihram onwards, avoid: wearing perfume, cutting hair or nails, quarrelling, and marital relations.

Invocations

●On entering the state of ihram

لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً، لَا رِيَاءَ فِيهَا وَلَا سُمْعَةً

Labbayka ʿumratan, lâ riyâʾa fîhâ wa lâ sumʿa

Here I am [O Allah] for an Omra, free of ostentation and the seeking of reputation.

●On the way, until the Kaaba

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Labbayka-llâhumma labbayk, labbayka lâ sharîka laka labbayk, inna-l-hamda wa-n-niʿmata laka wa-l-mulk, lâ sharîka lak

Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am. You have no partner, here I am. To You belong praise, grace and dominion. You have no partner.
